Job Description:


The role of the Automation Designer will include automation and controls systems 
design, PLC/SCADA programming, simulation and testing, and start-up. The ideal 
candidate must have a proven track record in developing advanced PLC logic and 
programming (preferably with Allen-Bradley), and HMI/SCADA programming.
Position Requirements: The ideal candidate will have
 5-10 years direct work experience programming and testing advanced motion 
control 
systems. Experience in rotary, linear, and/or robotic packaging systems is a plus
 Appropriate degree/training in Electrical/Electronics, Computer 
Engineering/Computer Science, or Mechatronics
 Advanced knowledge in the areas of system integration, machine automation, 
application programming, database, and system design 
 Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative 
environment
 Experience reading and creating electrical schematics/wiring diagrams
 Strong customer service and interpersonal skills 
 Ability to complete assigned tasks and maintain schedule for multiple projects as 
appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. 
 Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical 
and problem-solving capabilities 
 Ability to evaluate and convey contractual scope of work and the impact of 
scheduling changes
 Ability to learn, understand, and apply new software and technologies
 Flexible working hours with the ability to travel on occasion
 Authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available
 Programming experience with Structured Text, VB/VB.Net, C#/C, SQL/TSQL or 
other 
high level languages are a plus
 Knowledge of the United States National Electrical Code, third party approval (UL, 
CSA, CE) processes, and ISO procedures are a plus 
 Experience with Autocad, Solidworks Electrical, vision inspection systems, or 
electrical test systems is a plus
 Background in electrical and instrumentation wiring and troubleshooting are a plus 

 Strong written and oral English communication skills. Any other spoken or written 
languages is a plus
Responsibilities
 Complete software programming and hardware/software design using established 
standards as required. Provide detailed information to communicate design and 
operation to internal and external customers 
 Effectively communicate the status of projects to management and actively pursue 
additional improvements through scope changes and change orders
 Assist with the selection, ordering and delivery of software and hardware for 
assigned projects 
 Assist in communicating both technical and business-related issues to customers 
and 
management
 Assume a primary role in the testing of all systems defined under the scope of 
work.
 Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoots issues with vendors and 
customers to ensure proper operation 
 Provide site-specific software training for owners and operators as required 

 Assist in development and creation of system operation manuals and training 
material based on project deliverables 
 Share experience and knowledge in a collaborative environment 
 Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application
 Develop programming estimates to support cost estimation for quoting and sales 
initiatives 
 Ensure all documents and programs are complete, current, and stored 
appropriately 
upon project completion 
 Keep track of lessons learned on projects and share the information with the 
engineering and sales teams
